Barbara Peacock grew up in Westford MA and enjoyed an idyllic childhood with her four siblings in the days of walking to school, jump rope and brownie cameras. After college and journeying about she returned home and opened her portrait studio in 1990. She has created her own unique portrait style stemming from years of study in the arts and her life-long love of street photography. Her formal education was at Boston University School of Fine Arts and at The School for the Museum of Fine Arts/Tufts University.   Barbara has studied with Master Photographers Mary Ellen Mark, Eugene Richards and Ernesto Bazan. She has traveled to Cuba, Mexico and Sicily to continue her documentary studies. Her non-profit organization The Nightingale Project has taken her to Cambodia and Haiti, teaching art and photography to children.    Her personal project ‘faces’ is a documentary about every day life in her home town of Westford. The project began in 1984 and is still ongoing. It will be published in 2014.  www.barbarapeacock.com

BARBARA PEACOCK - A CREATIVE LIFESTYLE

THE SEMINAR - Oct. 11, 2013 6:00 - 9:00 PM  $99.00

Barbara's distinctly personal lifestyle shooting has earned her top ranking among today's stock, editorial and advertising photographers.  Her subjects range from babies to seniors.  Her playful, animated style applies to wedding, family, advertising and stock.  It is a process of creating images, rather than documenting real life.   Autobiographical influences shape the look and the light of these spirited, amusing moments.   Her images have the feel of an extending happy childhood.  They are wholesome captures of emotional events.  She skillfully identifies special little slices of life and expands them into a major scene.  The scene includes a range of colors, sets and props, but most of all the expression of her subjects.  Join Barbara as she discusses her work.

THE WORKSHOP -  Oct. 12,  2013  Limited to 15  8:30 - 5:30  $349.00

Working with Barbara in a production that typifies her stock shooting, attendees will get hands on guidance in all the necessary aspects of producing convincing and compelling lifestyle, advertising and stock images.  The group will begin in the studio for an hour of classroom instruction.  The discussion will include use of props, wardrobe, hair and make-up and production details Barbara Peacock style.  (She'll show you how how to handle hair, make-up, and styling on your own with little or no budget to create a personal look).  Then the group will travel to the location for a live shoot with models.  The concentration will be on trusting your instinct, finding your own unique voice and bringing a fresh updated look to your photos.

After the shoot the group will return to the studio to review and discuss their results.
